DESJON JAMAL EDWARDS was born November 30, 1981 in New London, CT to Eletris and Phillip Edwards.

Desjon attended and graduated from Robert E. Fitch Sr High School in Groton. After graduation he furthered his education at Johnson and Wales College in Rhode Island.

Desjon was an avid sports fan who loved basketball and football. He was a people person and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He could always be found telling a joke to make people laugh. He also loved to travel and to visit new places.

Desjon was especially fond of his uncle Jimmie Startz. Jimmie was his mentor.

He leaves to cherish  his memory, two sons, Remeik Stewart of Virginia Beach, VA, Devon Charles Edwards of Ledyard, his mother, Eletris (Lisa) Edwards and his father Phillip Edwards of Groton, his soon to be fiancée, Allison Forte of Waterford, his maternal grandmother, Mary McClellan of Groton, his paternal grandmother, Mattie Tanner of Clarksville, TN, four sisters, Ashley, Rena, Tesha and Alicia Edwards all of Groton, seven uncles, Jimmie Startz, Tony McClellan, and Reggie McClellan of Groton, Phil McClellan and Darrell McClellan of Mystic, Tony Edwards and James Edwards of Oakdale, two aunts, Debra Startz, and Kimberly McClellan of Groton. He also leaves, nine great aunts, seven great uncles, his best friend whom he considered his brother, Victor DeLong, and many, many cousins, aquaintences and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 11 o’clock at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St New London. Interment will be in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery, Groton. Visiting hours are this evening from 6 until 9 o’clock.
