Frederic Lattin
OLD MYSTIC - Frederic Newcomb Lattin, 85, of Old Mystic died Monday at the Hartford hospital.
He was born October 27, 1924 in Washington, DC the son of Clarence L. and Cornelia Newcomb Lattin.
Mr. Lattin graduated from the Loomis School in Windsor, CT in 1942, and from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1945 and then served on active duty until 1948. He is a veteran of World War II. From 1956 until his retirement in 1991 he worked as a mechanical engineer at Electric Boat. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Connecticut.
He was first married on June 6, 1945 to Marie Robertson Lattin and then was married to Barbara Tremper Lattin on December 7, 1973 who died October 28, 1999. On August 19, 2001 he was married in Deep River, CT to Elysabeth Perkins Lattin.
Mr, Lattin is an Eagle Scout, and had a life long interest in music, boats, any kind of engine, model trains and was also a blacksmith. He became a member of Alcoholics Anonymous on January 1, 1961 and enjoyed 49 plus years of sobriety.
In addition to his wife Elysabeth he is survived by 3 daughters; Nancy Davis and her husband Scott of Annapolis, MD, Jennifer Julier and her husband Sam of Hamden, CT, and Jean Lattin of Westerly, RI, 5 step-daughters; Karen S. Harris and her husband Scott of Stamford, Diane S. Elahan and her husband Jim of Huntersville, NC, Leslie S. McHugh of Patchogue, NY, Cheryl S. Crocker and her husband David of Waterford and Kathleen Pepin of East Lyme, 5 step-sons; James and Michael Tischer of New London, Joseph Tischer and his wife Joanne of Swansea, SC, John Tischer and his wife Dawn of Salem, CT and Robert Tischer and his wife Sara of Kansas City, MO, a sister Harriett Dunlap of Honolulu, HI , 23 grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 11:00AM Friday , April 30th at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London, CT . Private burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 – 7 PM.
