Doris I. Collins, 88, of 83 George Avenue in Groton passed away Tues. Apr. 13, 2010 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London.
Mrs. Collins was born on Jan. 6, 1922 in Haverhill, MA, the daughter of Alvin W. and Anna Mae Pierce Smart
She was married to the late Robert E. Collins on July 13, 1941 in Haverhill. He died on March 19, 1993.
Doris was a member of the Groton Senior Citizens and had attended the Groton Bible Chapel.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her four children Sandra Collins Mashner of Mobile, AL, Robert C. Collins and his wife Gwendolyn of Ledyard, Eileen A. Auger of Pomfret, CT, David A. Collins and his wife Debby of Preston, a sister Helen Johnson of Haverhill, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She had also been predeceased by a sister Rita Mae Defour and a brother Charles Pierce.
Memorial services will be held at 11 am Friday at the Groton Bible Chapel.
Her burial in the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery in Groton will be private for the family only and there are to be no visiting hours.
Byles- Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St. is assisting the family with her services.
