SHERLIN A. WONG age 61 of, Boston, MA and 3 Woodland Dr, Salem, CT passed away Monday morning, January 11, 2009 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
She was born in Canton, China on December 14, 1948 the daughter of Gene and Yue Fun Chow Wong.
Sherlin graduated from St. Bernard High School, Annhurst College and earned her Masters from Southern Connecticut State College.
She was a secretary for the Boston Public School System for over 30 years, most recently working at the William Carter School.In 2008, Sherlin received the Boston Public Schools Service Excellence Award for Customer Service as an employee who served as a role model for other employees by consistently demonstrating outstanding commitment to servicing the customers, including students, families, and other employees, in a proactive, value-added, and innovative way.
She is survived by a brother, Irving Wong and his wife Connie of Salem, two sisters Eileen Wong and her husband Tom Bennett of Lee, NH and Marilyn Parnes and her husband Eric of New London, three nieces and three nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday morning at 11:30 o’clock at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St. New London. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The visiting hours will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be directed to the Friends of the William Carter School, 396 Northampton St, Boston, MA 02118.
