            William (Billl) W. Waddington, 81, passed away at his home in Groton, CT, on Dec. 20, 2009, surrounded by his family.
            He was born Dec. 4, 1928 in Wilmington, DE, and spent most of his life in Groton. His parents were the late William H. and Beatrice (Weiland) Waddington.
            Bill was a US Navy Tin Can veteran, serving in the WWII and Korean Wars. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1673.
            Bill retired from Electric Boat after 31 years as a pipefitter, and was a 51 year member of the Pipefitter’s Local 620 (now Local 777) in Groton.
            He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lenore (Hauschild), whom he married in St. Clement’s Church in Jamaica, NY on Nov. 9, 1957. He also leaves their five children.
            Their son, William F., his wife Janet of Ledyard, and their son Zane. William F’s other children, Sarah, Nicole and her son Matthew Stevens; William R. and his wife Kristyn and their children McKenna and Ryan. Their daughter Marysusan Fontaine and her husband Thomas of Oakdale and their son Kevin. Their son Stephen of Florida and his children Stephen and Stephanie. Their son John of Waterford and his children Tiffany, John and Amanda, Jennifer; and her daughter Breannah Tonge; and their half-sister Gabrielle Clark. Their daughter Catherine White and her husband Gary of Oakdale and their son Casey.
            Other survivors include a sister Anne Moran and her husband Neil of Brick, NJ, and their children Christopher, Gregory and Donnamarie. Also a sister in law Betty Heskett of St. Petersburg, FL, and a brother in law Robert Hauschild and his wife Margaret of New London.
            He is also survived by very special people in his life. Susan and Barry Greenhalgh, his two ex daughters in law Debbie Murphy and Kathleen Clark; Alice Carr, Christine and Fred Fontaine, Gerard and Gloria Lanoue, Eva Stern and Patsy Flynn.
            Byles- Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St. is assisting the family with private services.

    In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of SE CT, 227, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT or to “Dances with Wood”, at www.danceswithwood.org (which helps seriously ill children cope with their illnesses.
