Barbara Simpson Campbell, 80, of 53 Inchcliffe Dr. in Gales Ferry was called Home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tues., Dec. 8, 2009 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London.
She was born on Sept. 16, 1929 in Providence, RI, the daughter of Norman and Hilda Campbell Simpson.
Barbara was married to her husband of 53 years Robert (Bob) on June 23, 1956 in Cranston, RI.
She attended schools in Cranston, RI, graduated from Bob Jones University and received her Masters of Education from Boston University.
For several years, Barbara taught at schools in Attleboro, MA, Montville and Groton.
She attended the Groton Bible Chapel and was very active in the ministry involving teaching, piano, organ and hospitality.
For the past 14 years, she and Bob have conducted the Sunday Morning Church Services at the Windham Falls Estates in Groton.
Barbara loved reading (most of all her Bible), playing her piano, yard work, flowers, backyard birds and her dogs. She was also a very loyal UCONN Husky girls basketball fan.
Although she leaves no children, she leaves an extended family of friends, some who have lived with them during special times of need.
Memorial service will be held at 11 am Sat., Dec. 12 at the Groton Bible Chapel, Tollgate Rd. in Groton.
A Reception will follow in the Chapel Fellowship Hall.
Her burial in the Avery- Stoddard Cemetery in Ledyard will be private and there are to be no visiting hours.
