JANET JENDA SCHAFTER age 87, formerly of Riozzi Court in New London passed away on Tuesday night, May 25, 2010 at Pendleton in Stonington.
Janet was born in Superior, WI on August 25, 1922 the daughter of Adolph and Josephine Jenda. She was married for many years to Lawrence E. Schafter who passed away in 1993.
During her 87 years she lived in Seward, Alaska, Waterford, Beckley, WVA, Pocahontas, VA, Mystic and New London.
She graduated from Cathedral High School in Superior and briefly attended college before she began working in Gary, Indiana in a World War II factory. She would later work as a dietary aid for several hospitals before her retirement.
Janet is survived by her children, Carol Butler of Seattle.WA, Lawrence J. Schafter of Springfield, VA, Gloria von Oy of Newtown, CT, Joan Veitch of Niantic, CT, Daniel Schafter of Lake Nebagamon, WI and Patrick Schafter of Uncasville, her brother, Chester Jenda of Superior, WI, her sister, Stella LaRochelle of Superior, WI, nineteen grandchildren one great grandchild and thirty nieces and nephews.
